TORRANCE, CA – Sakura Finetek USA, Inc. today announced the launch of the Tissue-Tek
® Cryo
3® Flex Cryostat.
The Tissue-Tek
® Cryo
3® Flex is the 3rd generation of the established, respected and trusted Cryo
3 platform for fast sectioning of frozen tissue specimens. The Tissue-Tek
® Cryo
3® Flex is equipped with new, innovative unique features designed to decrease the time to get complete sections faster, and in parallel to preserve valuable tissue.
Of the new features, the most important is the fine angle adjustment of the 3D Precision Chuck on all 3 axis’s. It uniquely ensures accurate alignment of the block face to the blade and reduces users’ trimming time and preserves patients’ specimens.
Furthermore, the sturdy chuck retains its position when locked and unlocked, eliminating any time and effort spent realigning the cutting angle. Recuts can be easily produced using the guide marks on the face of the chuck.
Users can now leverage the newly developed Anti-Roll Rake that was designed to best mimic the preferred and widely accepted “Brush” technique to prevent sections from rolling, which in addition reduces the learning curve of new users making them proficient faster.
"The Cryo
3 Flex 3D precision chuck allows me to maximize the number of tissue sections per block and the Anti-Roll Rake prevents folding and wrinkles to preserve tissue quality. The ability to manipulate the tissue with such precision makes a world of difference when working with small tissues such as ours. Plus, the chuck retains its position when locked/unlocked, saving operator time and ensuring section consistency." says Alan Cheng, MD, Associate Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery of Stanford
School of Medicine.
For the first time in the history of cryotomy, Sakura successfully integrated its advanced remote diagnostics technology platform,
iSupport™, into the hardware and software of the Tissue-Tek Cryo3 Flex. The plug-and-play connection opens communication to a secure remote service that ensures maximum uptime through fast reaction to instrument alerts by Sakura’s professional technical support team.
The Cryo3 Flex now uses a more efficient and patented ozone technology to safely protect operators from pathogens in between weekly decontamination requested by CAP Accreditation Guidelines. Ozone engulfs the entire chamber and provides unprecedented disinfection up to 5 log for SV40 virus.
To ease sectioning comfort and user safety, Sakura is introducing for the first time a set of additional two interchangeable ergonomic handles with the goal to further reduce the risk of Repetitive Motion Disorders, a common and feared consequence of sectioning day in day out.
Operators can now store up to 32 specimen holders in the chamber to keep as many blocks frozen, available to fulfill requests for immediate recuts, at any time.
To maximize section quality and further enhance operators’ sectioning experience, the Tissue-Tek
® Cryo
3® Flex Cryostat comes in three models with the laboratories’ preferred consumables: Tissue-Tek
® O.C.T. Compound and Accu-Edge
® Microtome Blades.
